Safety features
27.12.2019
Although many of the features are now becoming standard, here is a rundown of some of the new safety features incorporated into the MAN chassis our coaches are built on:
- High powered engines up to 500 hp with tons of torque for a relaxed and safe ride.
- Electronic brake system - rapid intervention in the brake system and the anti-lock braking system significantly increase braking safety. Integrated ASR reduces spin on the drive wheels and also wear.
- MAN BrakeMatic® management of the continuous brake means that this brake isautomatically applied as soon as the driver touches the brake pedal. Maximum speed control and cruise control enable the vehicle to precisely maintain a preselected speed, thereby boosting safety on steep downward gradients in particular.
- Emergency brake assist - thuis radar system warns the driver of impending collisions and brakes automatically, and to a complete stop where required, in emergency situations.
- The Lane Guard System (LGS) uses a vibrator impulse in the seat to warn the driver as soon as the coach leaves the lane, in other words when the driver diverges from the lane markings without indicating. This is safer than the system that fights the driver at the steering wheel.
- Speed is controlled based on the distance from the vehicle in front and kept constant by means of subtle interventions from the retarder in the brake system. Safety on the road is also increased.
- GPS-supported MAN Effi cientCruise® cruise control together with Effi cientRoll®: it intervenes pre-emptively in the gear selection and also activates the rolling function as soon as additional fuel can be saved but also ensure the coach is in the right gear immediately prior to any known incline so always in the correct gear.
- Intelligent suspension
